web exchange

We have seen the internet flurry come and go. While the list of 'Dot.Crash' corporations pales in the light of seven billion dollar accounting errors, many folks have felt the hangover of past web mania intoxication. In this context, the PostWebCulture simply takes a sharper edge.

As the tide of rampant commercialism recedes, we can take a clearer look at what web publication can be. True to the spirit of radical consent, the PostWebCulture project avoids unintentional publication. Any person, place or thing viewed from the web is not rendered, if the owner has not given explicit consent. This consent takes the form of a modification of any PostWebCulture property. Otherwise, the web view is of the first ancestor that has such a modification . . .

A basic web page can be edited via '@notedit .html' using standard HTML tags. For verb defined html output try looking at '@list #1:html' for how :html_page is a way to program html . . .

In any event, an object can be referenced by url using the object's number, without the pound sign, e.g., http://hero.village.virginia.edu/824 There are also some default html_* properties that can be @set :

  • .html_bgcolor "#1582A4"
  • .html_text "#000000"
  • .html_link "#2300ff"
  • .html_vlink "#269300"
  • .html_alink "#ff5555" These properties take the same values as the HTML color specifications.

The '#' sign indicates a hexadecimal number, the first two digits specify the amount of red, the second two the amount of green, and the last two indicate the amount of blue.

Two other properties can be used to add a background texture image and an image to be displayed at the top of the page. The background image is simply

.background "http://some.where/sub/dir/image.gif" while the other has three parts, URL for the image, text for non-graphic browsers, and the last part is a destination URL for the image when clicked.
    .webpic_msg "http://where/image.jpg IMAGE http://gothere/"

    Please post comments or suggestions, e.g., '@send *pwc' . . .

    enjoy.
